Topic A: Gender Inequality in the Digital Age
This committee focuses on making the online world safer and fairer for women and girls. Delegates discuss problems like online harassment, misinformation targeting women, and unequal access to digital tools and education. They also debate whether the UN should step in to regulate social media and other platforms. Overall, the goal is to create digital spaces where women can participate safely, equally, and confidently, no matter where they live.
Topic B: Equitable Access to Healthcare in Conflict and Humanitarian Crises
This committee looks at how war, displacement, and natural disasters make it harder for women and girls to access essential healthcare. Delegates will examine issues like collapsed medical systems, limited access to maternal care and contraception, and the rise of gender-based violence during crises. They will also discuss how humanitarian aid can better support reproductive health and protect women in unstable environments. Overall, the goal is to ensure that even in conflict zones or emergency situations, women receive safe, reliable, and equitable healthcare.

Head Chair: Jennifer Nguyen
My name is Jennifer Nguyen, and I am currently a freshman at UC Davis majoring in Design. I am honored to serve as the Head Chair of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) for DMUNC XXIII. I joined Model United Nations in high school because I was deeply curious about global issues and wanted to engage in meaningful conversations about them. Since then, MUN has been an incredibly positive experience that has broadened my perspectives and supported my personal growth. Eventually, it led me to become the Vice Secretary General of my high school’s MUN club. A fun fact about me is that I’m probably one of the few people in MUN who is interested in an artistic field. I plan to pursue a career in architecture, and I love all things art-related, including drawing, painting, and sculpting. Although it may seem uncommon, it shows how diverse the MUN community is and how the skills you develop extend far beyond debate. I’m thrilled to continue my MUN journey at UC Davis and hope everyone has just as much fun while gaining impactful and memorable experiences this year at DMUNC XXIII!
