Far, Far Away: A Shrek Succession Crisis

Rest in Peace our great frog king, King Harold. Following this great national tragedy, Far Far Away is in need of new leadership. Although Lord Shrek is next in line for the throne… he prefers the Swamp. As such, Lord Shrek has convened this committee to be tasked with finding a more appropriate heir to the throne. But this task may not be easy, as discontent and chaos brews with the kingdom. Rumors of ogres coming together planning protests for equal rights, discontent amongst the various unions of Far Far Away, and terrible rumors of a ghost Lord Farquaad terrorizing the neighboring city state of Duloc.

Head Chair: Selena Hsu

Hi Everyone, I am Selena. A freshman at UC Davis for biochemical engineering. First time being the head-chair in DMUNC, but have been head-chairs and vice-chairs in other committees. I love STEM (obviously, who will take such a major like mine), I love KPOP, I love watching C-Dramas. Shrek is an unprecedented character in the cartoon industry around the 2000s. When all the positive characters in the industry have been pretty, handsome, and attractive, Dreamworks released a character that was originally not portrayed as a hero but did actions that warmed the hearts of the audience throughout the movies. It allows audiences to reflect on judging people from their appearances. There are also several interesting themes like friendship and love that I’m excited to explore. Let’s enter the Magical World of Far Far Away and see the so many things waiting for all of us!

Crisis Director: Maeve Parasol

Maeve is excited to be back at DMUNC crisis directing her third committee! Maeve has had the privilege to staff 4 DMUNC’s previously, and has had a blast at every single one. Maeve graduated UC Davis in 2024 and now works for State Senator Christopher Cabaldon on state policy. She is also a big Shrek fan and was previously Lord Farquaad for halloween. When she is not watching Shrek, Maeve likes to rock climb, read, and play RPGs.
